Expat Club is proud to announce an exclusive and high-quality wine appreciation workshop. Under the guidance of a licensed wine expert from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET), the world’s foremost international institution in wine and spirits education, we are going to discover a wide variety of wines. Each session is dedicated to a specific country, region, grape or theme.

Smell the tradition and quality

During each session we typically taste 7 to 9 different wines. These could either be cheaper wines (<€10 per bottle) or more expensive ones (€35+ per bottle or much more). Each and every bottle is carefully selected by our WSET partner to ensure you can optimally taste the wine’s characteristics and compare them with other wines. Put differently, you will only be served high quality wines. This is a serious appreciation course that lasts for about 2 to 2,5 hours. Of course having fun and socialising is part of the deal, but the objective is to truly better understand and appreciate the wines that we’re tasting.

For this first session we are going to study the Beaujolais. This wine is an ideal summer wine and experiences a tremendous revival. Dynamic young viniculturist strive for quality, not quantity. Top restaurants understood this and their sommeliers provide Beaujolais wines a prominent place on their wine menus.

Piet Vannieuwenhuyse, an official WSET instructor, will show us the broad spectrum of the Beaujolais region by introducing us to seven wines. Discover the enormous potential of this French wine region. During the session he will not only introduce the wines, but he will also provide a lot of background information of the region, the wine and the grapes. It is a full learning experience that will allow you to really appreciate this wine.
